“Always a relaxing time when my family and I go. We take a week long mini vacation there for the past 3 years. Always clean and the rangers for the most part are very nice. You do get a few who don't have a people person attitude but those few you just have to smile and still be nice.”

“Amazing place to hike. Trail goes from Maine to Georgia in its entirety and is over 2000 miles long. Hiking this trail the entire way can be done in 6 months although some can do it quicker. The trail is well maintained and very beautiful. Highly recommend it.”

“Nice trail that takes you from a gravel road to walking across a metal grate bridge and along a cement wall for some exploration not typical of most trails. Not a long hike.”

“Highland lakes state park is the place to go for a great walk along 4H paths made for horses. Do not bring dirt bikes or other motor related bikes as they do not allow it and the DEC patrols the paths... You will get caught and face a hefty fine!!!”

“This place is a hidden gem. It is great for young children. It has the awesome spray park which is a jungle gym of water and a small man-made beach area with lifeguards and shallow enough to be safe for all children. There is a bath house with showers and bathrooms. They also sell ice here and limited choice of food such as hot dogs. Parking is paid by space number and paying at the meter at the parking lot crosswalks where the meters are located. You can pay in quarters or credit card.”

“Nice dog park, but watch you're dog and other dogs, they might not get along , pick up after your dog. Nobody likes stepping into number 2 .”

“Usually there's noise from distant leaf blowers, but you might get lucky. And it's always a beautiful and varied landscape (if I may use that word in its original and proper sense, rather than the euphemism for cacophony it has sadly become). If you study the site map you can do a long loop trail, returning via the curiously named Boney Lane. However you must watch carefully for the trail markers , because the path is sometimes overgrown or blocked by fallen trees. Also, remember the parking lot closes at 5 pm, even in summer.”

“Brought my 1 year old here for the first time today. So glad I found this park! So many swings, slides, jungle gyms, open grassy areas to run around in, and an amazing sand pit. Not to mention all the toys - rocking horses, cozy coups, play kitchens, etc. Will be making the 20 min drive just to come here often. If only they had a splash pad, it would be perfect!”

“Washington Irving could have been describing a site like this when he wrote of a “land among high hills, which is one of the quietest places in the whole world. A small brook glides through it, with just murmur enough to lull one to repose; and the occasional whistle of a quail or tapping of a woodpecker is almost the only sound that ever breaks in upon the uniform tranquility.””
