“Wonderful park at the end of the peninsula, very large. Ideal for horseback riding (which you should inquire of before coming) great for strolling through gardens, fields, trails and one of the best bike riding paths in these parts. You can see a fair amount of birdlife, especially by the lake considering it is a Bird Conservation Area. I would recommend spending the whole day just walking around and exploring. I bought a blanket and snacks and took nice breaks between the attractions. There are a few structures on the grounds, worth exploring around. The park does a fantastic job of holding on the history Manor style with all of it's sprawling grounds.”

“Beautiful trails! Well balanced. Climbs are not too hard. There are a few very nicely flowing downhill sections. Trails are well maintained and have a few nice built elements. The bottom line - I advice to everyone to come and see it by him/herself!”

“One of the Best nature preserves on Long Island. The beautiful Chelsea Mansion is right next door. Stop in at Paterson Center that’s at the trail head kids will love it. Make sure kids are protected from ticks. If you have a bike there is a bike rack in the parking lot. There are actually three entrances to Muttontown Preserve, there is what is called the equestrian entrance on route 106 the other two are a bit difficult if your a first timer but as long as search for the Chelsea Mansion in East Norwich the Preserve is right next door or down the road. Be aware if you are not frequent hiker give yourself plenty of daylight to get out of this corn maze like trail system. Most of the time during the Summer big mud puddles and if your looking for the ruins a good way to learn their history is to ask an expert inside the Paterson Center at the trail head it is very interesting.”
