“Old-growth groves. Hidden forest paths. Trickling streams under humble foot-bridges and a pond-side observation deck. Strikingly diverse flora in late spring to early summer. If you're quiet, you might see swans or a heron. Highly recommended for a light, quiet hike. No facilities. Closed Fridays.”

“The Marshall Field House is located in Cumasett State Park. It is a great place to walk, hike, bicycle and fish. There is a private horse stable and bridal paths. There are restrooms available. It is an outdoor paradise within the New York Metropolitan area. It is one of the few places on Long Island where you can get away from automobile sounds. There is an extensive hiking trail network. Spend a few hours or spend a day. The Marshall Field House is located within the park but is not open to the public. Part of the Greatest Show was filmed there last year. There are great views from the rear of the mansion. I take a star off since there is not a concession stand for food and drinks. However Huntington is a short drive and has a host of eateries. During the season there is an $8.00 parking fee or use an Empire Pass. Seniors are free Monday to Friday with ID.”

Address: Croton Dam Rd, Croton-On-Hudson, NY 10520, USA
“A beautiful park for a bbq, picnic or hike. The surroundings are peaceful, especially with the sounds of the waterfall from the dam. Although the parking lot is large it has been known to get full. If this is the case card will be lined up outside of the entrance and can only enter once another car has left. There is no concessions stand so be certain to pack some food and drinks. There are restrooms, water fountains and a playground for children.”
