“Open year round and well maintained. During summer months the city of Long Beach brings around containers of water and cups and leaves them for everyone to use. There is also a small shop next door with picnic tables. Plenty of seating in the playground with a boardwalk around the exterior of the playground in the fence that’s perfect for walking while the children are playing.”

“With over 1400 acres and growing this preserve is known for its great dirt trails for walking, horseback riding, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. It is a bird watching paradise and it has an important bird area which is a must visit for birders. The diversity of mostly native flora is of great importance to naturalists and enthusiasts alike. If you are interested in learning or expanding your knowledge of trees, shrubs, and bushes surrounding the swampy border of Swan Lake, the Preserve offers Tree Walks. I recently attended an outstanding Tree Walk conducted by Naturalist John McShane. The views are simply magnificent.”
