House Rock Nature Preserve

Address: House Rock Rd, Pequea, PA 17565, USA

Park

“Gorgeous trail with breath taking views. Also a very interesting Chestnut breeding plot. Certainly worth the drive. Parking/ finding the trail head can be tricky. You have to park at the Reed Run trailhead (you will see this on your left as you drive in) then you continue on foot to the end of house Rock road (about 20 yards) you then pick up a gravel road with a "no motor vehicles" sign. You follow this for about a hundred yards till you get to the preserve map and trail heads. But, as I said before. It's well worth it”

Scott and Mandy are absolutely wonderful and will go out of their way to do anything they can to make your stay enjoyable. People who stay there are also very friendly and always willing to engage in conversation. Our family will continue to make Otter Creek Campground a regular part of our summer.”

Park

“Beautiful nature preserve with great hike. Visited in the winter so it was not terribly crowded, although some people have said it does get crowded in the warmer months. Side note - we walked down one side of the river (yellow trail, I think) and back up the other (blue, I think) but there was no way to get back to the parking lot from this side of the river. Seemed as though there was a bridge mising that was usually there.”

Texter Mountain Preserve

Address: 78-198 Deer Rd, Robesonia, PA 19551, USA

Park

“Great trail to hike. There are no bridges for the two creek crossings, but the water is less than a foot deep. It's a bit rocky and steep at parts, but for the most part it's pretty well maintained. There's a couple benches along the way. The trail is shaped like a lollypop, offering two ways to go around the "circular" part and then back out the same way you entered.”

William J Morton Bird Sanctuary

Address: 2902-, 2910 Stumptown Rd, Ronks, PA 17572, USA

“Perfect little spot to fish, have a picnic or do some photography. There are open parking spaces for free and a few picnic tables. The waterfall is excellent for photos or a photo lesson. The stay is free and I don't believe there are hours when it is closed. This small park is free to the public. I do not know what types of fish can be caught here.”

Ledgedale Natural Area

Address: Greentown, PA 18426, USA

Park

“Excellent place to visit for a day hike!!! The Moosewood & Big Tree Trails were poorly marked and overgrown (as of 2017), but the Pond & Lenape Trails were an exception to this and should provide visitors with an enjoyable visit. In regards to wildlife habitat, I give the preserve two thumbs up!! Thick undergrowth, moist soils, and adequate water sources create excellent conditions for songbirds, amphibians, & small mammals. Waterproof boots & insect repellent a must!!!”
