“A nice and serene place to go, at night especially. It's a nice place to go if you just want to swing on the swing set in the evening time, as I do when I just have a lot on my mind and want to think about stuff. I love this cute and quaint little park. It is very easy to access, it is definitely a hidden gem in this area of San Rafael. I love this place and I love that the port-o-potty is very well maintained and cleaned frequently. They are currently remodeling so it is closed :( But, I am hoping they re-open soon as I am very excited to be able to enjoy the park again.”

“Quiet, secluded sitting areas upon rocks or grass near the Creek..or even away from the Creek up at sidewalk level. I wouldn't suggest a visit after dark since the local raccoon tend to come and take over the grass and Creek area. We must share with our local wildlife. So lets allow them the nights.????????”

“Palos Colorados Trail is a beautiful path through a steep canyon with a mixed forest including redwoods, oaks, and bay trees, and year-round cascading waterfalls. It is not a beginner's trail. One should wear appropriate shoes.”

All the time to stay awake. It's a terrifying feeling to struggle to stay awake. This walk calms me and quiets me. Thank God for this place and Google play. “Great park for hiking, walking dogs, picnics and parties. I think Alvarado park hits all the marks. Clean. Accommodating. Trails are wide and defined. There are 2 large bathrooms. A play structure for kids ages 3-12. I've been having a great time at this park for decades.”

“Beautiful view with miles of hikes and history all the way to San Jose. Dog friendly. You can get a feel for how the rest of the land used to look by visiting here. If the wind is high enough right in this spot and the water tower up the hill, you can lean into it and it will hold you, very fun. I hear back in the day there used to be vehicle access, now it is a sanctuary for wildlife.”

“Nice walking trails for all ages; even a significant paved trail route. Some trails do have rocky sections and mud during rainy weather. Lots of dogs as this is a popular off-leash allowed space. Wonderful sunset views of Oakland & SF. Ample parking area with facilities. (Keep your valuables out of sight as car break-ins are not uncommon.)”

“hidden gem, worth many visits, hikes etc. a unique geographical feature that most oaklanders and people around the bay are unaware of.”

“This place is great for a quick hike outdoors. Trails can range from leisurely strolls to butt kicking hills and ridges. Also, the well placed signs deliver a lot of really interesting information about the park's geological past. It's also dog friendly!”

“If you like hiking in wide open spaces, this 4 star is for you. The view is wonderful, but the wind can get strong, and there isn't a ton of shade to start out. There are no garbages, no benches, no bathrooms, and no water. It's right above a little private school, and be careful not to park in their lot. The trail is not paved, so rain=mud. The path immediately is an uphill adventure, and it goes for a short while. Creatures seen here in the past include: coyotes, fox, mountain lions, skunks, opossum, raccoons, cattle, horses, bats...the usual things you find in a large natural land area.”

“Hidden gem! This is the most photo perfect location for your wedding or party in the LA/Greater Ventura area period. Imagine entering a lush hidden garden, with twists and turns to explore and discover. Every inch perfectly planted with mature lush and blooming (Spring, Summer, Fall) foliage that translates into dreamy photos from engagement through wedding! Guests exclaim they love the paths and the 3 acres of rounds they can explore. The water fall, gentle flowing stream, thoughtful fountains, and cages of doves make this wonderland complete. Quiet with stars shining over head. No traffic noise or otherwise. A groomsmen room as well as a lovely bridal cottage. Full service charming bathrooms. Plenty of parking (some is hidden, so ask them!) and delightful helpful wedding coordinator, Bel and owner Barbara -- who the venue was made for! Why people go elsewhere is beyond me... Hartley Botanica is the most dreamy, picture perfect, purposeful place to make your memories, moments and magic come true!”
