“As town parks go, without equal on the open space side of things anyway. The structural part is minimal AND LET'S KEEP IT THAT WAY. 3 season bathrooms near the office and playground, two tracks, a soccer field (some of these facilities are reserved, or even dedicated to school use. Town pool in park and basket ball courts both within and directly adjacent. Easily accessible and once there, you can walk, run, or ride on your choice on paved road, dirt paths, or full on trail. Small but stocked pond with catch and release. Skating in winter (call ahead).”

“The camp is the best around for children and adults with special needs. When the camp is not in session (6 weeks), the grounds are open to the public where there is a playground and baseball field. Fantastic crew that keeps the location clean and tidy.”

“Expansive nature preserve only an hour away from NYC. Hundreds miles of well marked trails, more than 30 lakes, about a dozen of shelters, parking is available at many trailheads. Plenty of wildlife - from chipmunks to bears. Countless hiking opportunities with all levels of difficulty - from easy strolls to overnight backpacking. One of the highlights is the first ever section of Appalachian Trail - from Arden on Route 17 to Bear Mountain Bridge. Also a number of historical ruins and cemeteries.”

“My kids are finishing up 6 weeks of summer camp and had a great time! They saw old friends, made a lot of new friends, played sports, made crafts, and learned how to swim. I was impressed with the quality of swim lessons and my kids seemed to learn a lot from these lessons. The camp group pictures were also a great keepsake. I did have 1 minor concern, and the director addressed the issue swiftly and to my satisfaction. My kids looked forward to camp each day and overall had a very positive experience!”

“Unfortunate experience in foul weather here - but still an absolutely gorgeous scenic area with massive unearthed portions of bedrock and a lush forest. In the warmer months definitely prep with bugspray and glasses as the insects can get dense on the portion of the hike closer to the parking lot. Aside from that, incredible experience. Not too busy. Tons to do in the surrounding area as well.”
