“Last year in November, the weekend before this campground was closed for the winter, we had a 2 night stay here, at site #8. We absolutely fell in love with it. We have a seven-year-old who enjoyed it so much as well. It was really cold at night (high 30s) and cold during the day (50s), but as long as you are prepared, it's lovely. Because it is only an hour and a half away from us, we decided to go back the last week of June for 4 nights. We looked around again and settled on site #9 this time. While we did enjoy our stay, the abundance of mosquitoes bothered us despite repellent spray and citronella candles. Definitely a better camping experience in the fall/winter season. Also, as a general information: the sites 7, 8, 9 and 10 are great as they are big and somewhat secluded with enough trees to provide shade. The last 3 sites (36, 37, 38) are supposed to be great too as they are secluded and shady as well.”

“lots of bears, you're guaranteed to meet one if you stay the night, like we did.It climbed the tree and got our food, circled our tent as we sat inside, and didn't appear at all frightened by the people around us, all at 4 in the morning. Be aware of the bear cave near the trail to. But lots of scenery. And the water's good if you boil it. Just be careful”

“My family has truly enjoyed our 3 month stay at this KOA. We are sad to be leaving. Our children loved the new playground and jump pillow. The staff treated us like family and could not have been more helpful or accommodating. This park is well maintained and very clean. Highly recommend this park and will be staying again next year.”

“Not a modern place and a kind of country style. I didn't like it when I first saw this place. after I asked a guy for help with my daughter's snowboard, that was totally changed my feeling about this place. I felt this is the best place I ever used. They are kind, warm and skillful. If I need a help, no doubt I will come back to this place. Thanks again. You guys are the best!”

“What a beautiful, quiet, and small campsite. It’s really tucked in and hidden behind a trail, which means it can be quiet, but also have a lot of foot traffic. There are no more than 8 sites so be sure to get your spot locked in! I LOVE that this is right along the river. It’s also incredibly close to Great Falls, if you want to walk 3.5 miles on the towpath to get there.”

“Everyone here is close, so we have our parties, here and there. Otherwise this place is nice and quiet most of the time: no fireworks, concerts, golf carts, etc. The trailers are well spaced apart; big lots, and one can fish in the Tuckahoe River, on premises.”

“One of my favorite spots to camp but you do have to hike in your camping equipment about 8 Miles to this campsite and yes you can have a campfire if you get a fire permit from the ranger station and the fire is in the designated fire rings only unless told otherwise by the forestry when you're getting your fire permit they will ask you where you're camping and then they will tell you if it's permitted or not but I've never had a problem at this campsite”

“I have camped here in early spring and mid-late fall; I had no trouble getting a campground either time; although I'm sure it's different in peak season. Great campground - large sites, well maintained, lit bathrooms with an outlet if needed, pretty area with some decent views of the hills in the Fall. Also, it's within walking distance of High Rocks Park.”

“This is a campground, but you can also fish along the pier, Va. state license required, or explore the nature trails. A nice quiet place to relax or unwind. Runners use the surrounding area to train.”
