Aransas National Wildlife Refuge

Address: 1 Wildlife Cir, Austwell, TX 77950, USA

Park

“A national park with many opportunities to see wildlife up close. There is a well shaded picnic area with outhouse-style bathrooms and a great view of the ocean. The visitors center had knowledgeable and friendly staff. The gift shop was small but stocked with items showcasing the wildlife of the area. The viewing stands and observation tower were well built and made for a great view above the terrain to see nesting roseate spoonbills, herons, cranes, etc. We saw numerous alligators and deer also. Bring binoculars and/or a camera lens that will allow for seeing the animals in the distance. Clean bathrooms—and water bottle filling station—inside and outside the visitor center.”

It is a great winter hike, but I’m sure it is great in spring and summer too. There is a jungle jim at the beginning of the trail that is great for kids. There were several runners on the trail and many walkers as well. It was relatively populated, but still serene. I highly recommend this park!”

Only thing I'd note is that for large events, once the paved lot is full, over-flow parking is in grass lots. Just something to be mindful of if you have a choice in vehicles or want to arrive onsite earlier.”

Westside Park

Address: 1220 Woodridge Trails Dr, Fenton, MO 63026, USA

Park

“On the way home from the Saint Louis Aquarium I stopped at Wally's to refuel and pick up some snack items for a light lunch. Given that Wally's didn't have a place to sit I needed a place to casually eat. The Westside Park was close by and served this purpose well. The park is easily accessible to the main highways and is nestled at the end of a small suburban neighborhood. There is a covered seating area with park benches and an attached restroom which were fairly clean. There was also a small jungle gym area and a swing and basketball hoops. This is a small nice park if you're in the area and need a place to stop.”

This place is so peaceful and rich w history. There's plenty of parking and they have bathrooms here. Picnic tables can be found in the lot for food. Things to mind: Weather. Water. Your shoes. Pine Mountain Trail, West

Address: Komatsu Dr SE, Cartersville, GA 30121, USA

Park

“This was a well marked trail! We went up the boot trail, which I believe was marked with blue. It was labeled moderate but was a more easy as it was uphill, but was dirt and packed with minimal obstacles. The view at the summit was nice with a good photo op! We went down the trail marked strenuous with the Fatman Squeeze. It recommended hiking poles. There was one area with rocks that required some more hands inclusion for traversing. But overall, it was pretty similar to the boot trail. So, more moderate with the inclusion of the rocks. We enjoy it as it had pretty trees and foliage! There was ample parking—very nice gravel lot with a port-o-potty”

Centennial Park

My 4 year old loved the swing that was made for toddlers. They have a small basketball court (smaller than half court it looked like) and open space. No bathrooms.”

Really nice spread out sites, we had no horses, but most everyone else did. Full on the weekend peaceful and empty during the week. Horse people all clean up after their steeds, it's a nice peaceful woodsy place. Oh and lots of trails!!”
