“Beautiful, peaceful park with lots of handicapped-accessible parking spaces and walkways. The park includes a basketball court, baseball diamond, large fields for flying kites, and big shady trees for picnics. The barbecue and table area is very nice as well, (although it is roped off/unaccessible temporarily due to the pandemic). Parking is close to the tables so it's easy to unload for parties, picnics, etc. The park also includes a public restroom and a children's playground area. Lots of dog-walkers are there in the evening, which is nice - although a lot of them are off leash, which can be frustrating. The park is located between an elementary school and a beautiful, safe, little neighborhood. All in all, it's a great place to visit.”

“Lone elk is very cool. Our family has been only 3 times now but it's been a few great experiences. You can walk trails get to see the bison, elk, deer and they even have a bird sanctuary. Although I haven't been to see the birds. There is a pretty cool lookout at the beginning of the drive. We went on a trail our last time there and got to see some bison up close. Not too close... just a great place to go and see nature and have a nice picnic. Oh we also found a dog statue I believe was a good cache. We wasn't doing the geo caches but we spotted the dog.. apologies for the camera focus.”

“You know... there have been complaints of homeless hanging out. We saw them. They mind their own business. The real disappointment were the moms with kids who allowed their kids to leave empty drink containers. Overall the park is well kept and it's quiet.”

“Beautiful park with rustic playground, gazebos, pond, hiking and enclosed dog park. My kids love playing here and sense it's secluded there's not much traffic and very far from main roads so it's much safer for kids to be kids. It has a picnic table and benches next to the playground that are great to bring lunch and a hiking trail right beside the playground. So when we get tired of the playground and want to get messy in nature we take a hike. It's not to hilly for my 3yr old either.”

“I went here with a couple of friends to go crabbing. It was my first time, and I hope it was not my last time. There is a dock for fishing, crabbing, and chilling. There is a small beautiful park nearby with parking lots. A public restroom near the Marination restaurant and a Water taxi stop along the coast. We enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather while waiting for the crabs, which was a great experience. I took the Water taxi nearby for a 15 minutes round-trip to Downtown Seattle and enjoyed some peaceful time while onboard. If you come here for fishing/crabbing, don't forget your licenses. I highly recommend this park and the outdoor activities in this park to anyone. I hope you come home with a big smile on your face Updated: I recently returned on Aug 28th, 2022, on a beautiful Sunday morning. I got many crabs 🦀 more than I expected. What a fantastic and memorable experience!”

“Perfect for the family! There hasn't been much rain lately, so the falls were pretty dry. Also, the Blue-Green Algae was abundant and you couldn't get in the water. However, it was still a lovely site to see. Nice shaded picnic area and lots of trails if you need to get a good hike in. It is only $6 for adults and if the kiddos are under 12 they are free! We went on a weekday so it was less crowded than weekends. I would suggest buying passes online prior to visiting.”

“Map pin is wrong. Park in the lot east of Waukegan, then cross the street (awkward). The trail head is just behind the red sign for Somme prairie grove. Trails end east of the train tracks”

“I came here as a kid in the 90s and early 2000s, came back again as a seasonal camper in 2019 and it just keeps getting better. There is always something for the kids to do; between the awesome playground, beach, weekly kids’ activities and crafts, BINGO, hayrides, bands, seasonal picnic, Christmas, Halloween, Haunted House, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, bonfire for Ring of Fire , etc. We always have so much fun! Super affordable weekend sights and seasonal camp sites. On calm days, you can launch your kayak or canoe at the boat launch. You can also launch your boat or jet ski at the private boat launch. I highly recommend Birch Haven!”

“This is a such a fun spot for day use or camping. It does get loud with campers playing music and kids running around. I can say that at 10 pm, everything and everyone quiets down. We walked down to the river, crossed it and found a secluded shaded spot for picnic and swimming. People are super friendly and it does get crowded. We enjoyed our stay and will be back again.”

“This is a wonderful dog park. Lots of grass and space for the dogs to run. People generally mind their dogs and are good about picking up poo. It could use more trees for shade and more benches in shaded areas. I hear the parks department is working on a master plan to improve the park. As in all dog parks, there are occasional disagreements among dogs, but owners typically respond quickly to those situations. Truly aggressive dogs (and aggressive people) are not tolerated for long, but such situations are rare, in my 10 years of experience at this park.”

“What an amazing little gem. My husband and I came up to the cavern to celebrate our 19 year anniversary. And looking on the map at historic sites I realized I've seen pictures of this place and had to go. We were not disappointed. It's very peaceful and a nice step back in time. Was show inside the mill and learned so much. And honestly wasn't ready to leave. Will definitely be going back and enjoying this place in the spring.”

“I very much enjoy trips to our local state parks. They have something for everyone! You can camp, swim, launch your boat, crab, fish, whale watch, or hike the numerous trails. I take my dog there regularly and we like to take the trail from the state park to Cama Beach. It's a beautiful place to take in the surrounding beauty alone or with the whole family!”

“Quiet little park, very nicely managed and presented. Like the log cabins and signs, shows part if the early pioneers' life and spirit. Love the story of Dr. David Rogers, after which the park names. There is also a selter and a few rows of logs got sitting, so it's good for gatherings too. No walking/hiking trails, just a small park yo relax and appreciate the pioneer spirits.”
