“Current resident here, since Miss Heather took over the park this place has been the best park I've lived in, as a past park manager, Miss Heather is the sweetest... and very helpful to the residents. She has cleaned this park up immensly since I've been here .”

“This park is the best little park that this town has. It's very small but it has been the home of several different homeless individuals for the past 10 years give or take a month or 2.”

“Great place for hiking and birding. Still a nice place after all these years. I do miss the pollinator garden. The rain gardens at the edge of the parking lot is really not a good substitute for the serenity of a garden. Spectacular fall colors on October 9, 2022.”

“Fun, free and fabulous views from hills, bridges over waterfalls and rivers. Huge covered picnic shelter for parties or a rain shower. Nature center indoors is great for the kids. Be advised that the walk from the parking lot is scenic but a bit of a hike. Drop your gear and passengers at the bridge first and then park your car !”

“Our wedding ceremony took place at Rivers Edge Commons and we could not be happier with the location! Having built in seating and electrical for our DJ and Singer were a huge plus! We opted for a fall wedding due to the colored foliage along the Mississippi River. We are so lucky that our many of our guests showed up even when there was traffic in the downtown area. Parking is great as there are many places to park and the bars on main st are also a huge plus for event planning. The only little thing, we were not able to reserve parking spots for our wedding party vehicles but we made it work anyway. So glad we can revisit our ceremony site for anniversaries to come! “It was an amazing experience at the ranch. Our 2 year old had a lot of fun petting some of the animals and feeding most of them and so did I. The ranch was fairly clean given the fact that there are so ny kinds of animals there. The smell was not bad either. The prices for the adults ($15) amd parking ($5) was reasonable I think. Children under 3 are free to enter. Most of the farm animals were active and interactive but the lions, tiger, kangaroo, hyena and bear were mostly sleeping during our 2 hour visit. The prices for the feed was reasonable as well ($10 for 4 bags or $3 for 1). Overall it was a great experience. I thought that the tours were confusing to track and locate and there were not enough staffs present. The ones that were present were friendly. Would definitely be interested to go again on a slightly less hotter day.”

“Went here today for first time and I thought it was very nice for the kids. The splash pad had few variety of different water spouts. Very nice for fun and cooling off kids. No bathroom though with expectation of a porty potty. It will be nice to see if they add more stuff to it eventually. It be nice to add play ground equipment to the free space.”

“It's an ok park. It doesn't stand out in any way and the only things in it are a small playground as well as a had basketball court. The wine thing I like about it is the trail that is on the side of the park.”

“We went to Olcott beach for night, when we got to the beach I was shocked to see how small it was and that it was man made. It was well maintained and had two life guards. The water was clean, but the sand was low quality and had a lot of dust. It also turned into mud when it got wet. We will go back but it was not what we had expected.”

“I've lived in this neighborhood and fished in this lake my entire life. The lake is connected to the poplar creek water system and the fishing can be VERY good depending on how deep the previous winter freeze was. The park district stocked bass, channel catfish, and northern pike in 2019. We got a few 3+ lb bass and catfish in the late summer on medium shiners under a bobber. You can also get decent crappie action in April. Chestnut is regularly home to blue herons, muskrats, and coyotes and you may even spot a beaver passing through.”

“I really love this park but people need to clean up after themselves. I also feel as though if you reserve a shelter and pay the money they should at least ensure that it is clean and has an empty garbage to use during your party time.”

“The more we visited this park, the more we appreciate having it. It's the disc golf course that draws us. We are novice disc golfers and the course allows us to challenge ourselves without being overwhelmed by the difficulty. And it's a wonderful way to take a walk in fields and meadows with occasional dips into forested areas. I think you'll enjoy a visit.”

“What a treasure. Wide walking trails. Several playgrounds. Drinking fountains. Parking lots. Easy to maneuver a double stroller too. Welcoming to people of all sizes, colors and shapes. A terrific park. Well done City of Dallas. Working bathrooms or clean port a potties would have earned five stars but neither of those were found. The playground had age appropriate climbing structures- for whatever age child you have. And it was convenient to have a toddler playground right next to the bigger playground so it was easy to have multiple children in one area and I could see them all. The park is mostly level and there is a stone pavilion in the park which is so beautiful. I am so glad I visited and will definitely return. .”
