“You can park along the housing tract but be courteous, please take any trash or empty water bottles back with you, and keep quiet if you arrive early in the morning. It’s about 40mins/1 hr to the top, south point of double Butte. There is a brass geological plaque dated in 1939 that is very cool to see. Sunrise is beautiful, but it is a natural habitat so be aware of all local species of critters and such and stick to the trails.”

“Good campground with really good hike a dirtbiking right in site. You can hike down about 4 miles to the falls and rock diving spot. Which is what we did. Took about 2.5-3 hour each way. Was worth it. Only issue with the place was the road to the campground isn't paved and is kind of Rocky. We still managed with our sienna but it wasn't great. Wouldn't be any problem for a higher vehicle. Would recommend.”

“AHHHHHH!!!! Forest of Nisene Marks is like a fairy wonderland! All the hanging greenery, huge trees, bubbling creeks, and moss makes me feel like I'm about to grown literal fairy wings and finish out my days living among the woodland creatures. The proximity to SC is also awesome and convenient!”

“In A Nutshell: -Fall Creek is a nice place to hike under many shaded areas. -It's only a 50 minute drive from San Jose. -The parking lot is small which is good, since that means less people on the trails. -There's probably room for about 25 cars. -You'll find many young families taking their kids out into the wilderness, but not enough to annoy you. -If you like seclusion & privacy, this is the trail for you. -Beware of poison oak it's all over the place! Overall, Fall Creek is a nice place to gets your steps in w/out having to deal a ton of people.”

“Great camping with lots of amenities. 4th of July weekend was PACKED yet staff was still very quick and helpful. Campsites are decent size (ours was 30x30), and facilities are well maintained. General store has most everything you might need that you inevitably forget, at only a bit of a markup (Edited for typo)”

“I was here in 1997 with some friends and I still talk about the trip to this day. We hiked all the way to the ocean. It was an amazing hike(beware of stinging nettles) lots of fruit along the way during season. Mussels all over the rocks and at low tide it was easy to pick 5lbs worth to carry back for dinner. I will be back again.”

“Fantastic place to see whole fields full of wildflowers, plus a federally endangered butterfly (Bay Checkerspot). Only open on select dates to the public for now but the docents there are great. Not a place for pushchairs as the ground is very uneven, steep in places and narrow.”

“A great hiking spot with tons of wildlife to see. The lake is peaceful and very enjoyable with many various birds. If you choose to hike or walk further there are many trails that extend beyond the lake within Joseph Grant County Park.”

“Nice open fire roads for hiking and lots of different options for routes. The Buena Vista loop has a view of Grant Lake as well as Lick Observatory when you climb the hills. Low traffic trails. Make sure to bring plenty of water and sunblock. There’s not a lot of shade on most trails. I’d recommend longer hikes in the fall or early spring.”

“A long hike to reach Antler Point Trail Overlook, but well worth it for the view. It is about a 8 to 9 mile round trip hike to reach the overlook with primarily uphill the entire way from the start at grant lake. Took me about 3 hours to complete the hike but it was totally worth it. I even saw some wild boars and two bobcats during my hike!”
