“Such a plethora of knowledge about all things mineral, silver fabrication and chasing & repoussé. Multiple blue ribbon winners for first place, from the San Diego County Fair, in jewelry design are here. They are cutting stones or fabricating a piece of art out of silver or copper. The people here are kind and genuinely interested in seeing you succeed as a lapidary or silversmith. Classes are $5 as of now and the only other thing to buy is a membership. There is a museum separate from the workshops which is right by the gift shop. The gift shop has one of a kind pieces from numerous on-site artists. Support local and support handmade. I once heard statements that resonate with me to this date "Life is to short to wear machined jewelry. Shop Handmade. Shop Local." “We had a lovely afternoon at Vizcaya! The property is amazing, the gardens stunning! Due to some renovations, we couldn't see the upper floors of the main house, and while that was unfortunate, we were SO impressed with the rest of the house that we just looked at it as an excuse to come back again and see the house and gardens again...and it will be most worth a return trip! And, because of the lack of access to the upper floors, Vizcaya was offering a discounted entry fee! This place is truly worth visiting...and it at times felt like one was stepping back in time to Italy 150 years ago...just mesmerizing!”

“This place is a great place to learn about the Alaskan Native Peoples. Unfortunately some of the exhibits are closed because of the virus. They do have an short outdoor walking trail that features many different native dwelling structures and a complete whale bone skeleton. It is definitely worth the visit.”
