T. Mayne Thompson Park

Address: 14001 Bellflower Blvd, Bellflower, CA 90706, USA

“The baseball fields are well taken care of and there weren't any transients hanging around from what I could tell. There's some tree cover around the park's western edge for shade when it's sunny. Bellflower allows business permits to enterprising mobile vendors as well. We had some delicious crushed ice refreshments after the game.”

Spooner Lake - Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park

Address: Carson City, NV 89703, USA

Park

“We love this hike. It's currently under construction, but the views are really beautiful. It's mostly flat and there's a nice 2 mile hike around the lake. We've come here many times over the years and enjoyed the wildlife and the lake. The drive to and from the hike offers great views of Lake Tahoe, too. In early June the wild flowers were so pretty, too!”

RavenCroft

Address: 14950 Cinnamon Hill Ln, Mulino, OR 97042, USA

“We visited RavenCroft on their opening day of the season in early June. Definitely check the website for the most up-to-date information, as opening dates will coincide with when the lavender blooms start appearing. RavenCroft has several varieties available to view and each of them have slightly different bloom times. While July is the prime time, we were able to see a few of the varieties and they were absolutely gorgeous and fragrant. One benefit of visiting early on is being able to view the flowers without a crowd. :) The folks RavenCroft are very hospitable! They gave us an overview of the lavender blooms and graciously welcomed us to have a picnic lunch (we packed it) in their gazebo. Afterwards, we checked out the small gift shop to pick up a few souvenirs! Thank you, RavenCroft! We'd love to return again next year.”

We do the monitoring and prescribed burning out there and it is a real treat to be there. Bears, Florida panther, gopher tortoises, bobcat, coyote, deer, Shermans fox squirrel and many many other interesting critters out there.”

Hunter's Point South Park

Address: Center Blvd, Long Island City, NY 11101, USA

Park

“Beautiful little park by the water that’s super clean! It’s really nice walk with some small cherry blossom trees. It has a nice walking path, playground, basketball court, and dog park. There’s also some planted flowers that add a nice touch. The view of Manhattan and the bridge from here is absolutely stunning. There’s a bunch of food trucks as well along the park on the street side so you can grab a snack. There was a good amount of people there this Friday afternoon but didn’t feel crowded. It’s a nice spot to come relax and enjoy LIC and admire Manhattan & city life. There’s good restaurants too nearby as well as a good bakery. Definitely worth a visit 😎”

St. Ives RV Resort

Address: 4959 FM 2917, Alvin, TX 77511, USA

Rv park Campground Park Lodging

“Nice spot for a quiet weekend. My one complaint is that there was residue from what I assume was a bug sprayer truck that came through overnight - but it’s surrounded by woods and I like the shade trees so I’ll take the spray so we don’t have mosquito swarms- just plan to stop and wash off the rig on the way home. Staff was nice and facilities seem to be well kept although definitely a newer set of amenities. Would have loved some shade over the mini golf and some additional seating/shade around pools. Hopefully in the future they have plans for a larger pool or splash pad as we went on a weekend that wasn’t super busy - lots of spots open but not a lot of room left at pools before they got crowded feeling. We have plans to return- overall for the price and convenient location to us it’s a nice little get away with minimum fuel expense.”

Benedict Sports Complex

Address: 490 W Guadalupe Rd, Tempe, AZ 85283, USA

Park

“My soccer league plays here often. Fields are usually in ok shape but took a star off because sometimes they're a little beat up. Still a pretty solid complex tho with good lighting for play at night, plenty of parking and on-site bathrooms.”

Paige Meadows

Address: Tahoe City, CA 96145, USA

Park

“Paige Meadows is a beautiful flat place to go hiking at in the Spring and Summer months. It is easily accessible, offers an amazing open landscape with great views, and is not overly populated.”

Thea's Park

Address: 535 Dock St, Tacoma, WA 98402, USA

Park

“Thea’s Park is a hidden gem! Hidden because I almost missed the turn off Dock St into the drive that leads to several parking spots on either side of the drive. Also a couple more spots to park all the way at the end of the drive by the small rock beach. Waterfront park area has a good green space with the large rock at the east end next to The Dock, which adds another place to walk around with a boardwalk on the backside. At the west end of Thea’s is the rock beach, a huge globe surrounded by stones and bricks with names as well as messages, and a tall sign post with “welcome” in many different languages.”

Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park

Address: Grant Dr, Earlimart, CA 93219, USA

Park

“We stayed in the small campground attached to the historic park. We were the only occupied spot, so we had wonderful morning and evening walks. Sunsets were awesome. If you really want to get away from it all, this is the place. We would give it 5 stars if it had hookups and dependable water supply.”

Big Bear Alpine Zoo

Address: 42801 Moonridge Rd, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315, USA

Zoo Park

“Amazing little zoo!! Didn't expect a whole lot going in and boy was I wrong. This intimate little zoo allowed us to see these animals way closer than expected! Went on a weekday, so it wasn't very busy. All of the exhibits were great, but the bear exhibits truly stood out. I have never been able to get that close to a bear before. It was truly magnificent. The thing that puts this zoo ahead of all others I have been to is how closely all of the animals can be viewed. Also my first time seeing a snow leopard. Definitely recommend!”

Edge of Speedway

Address: 4125 KY-1130, Sparta, KY 41086, USA

Campground Lodging Park

“We recently stayed at Edge of Speedway and enjoyed it. It's quiet, peaceful and convenient. Just a mile or so from 71. I0 miles south is Carrollton with a Walmart, Kroger grocery store and several restaurants. Also, can't say enough nice things about Judy and her husband. We would definitely recommend it to family and friends. Stop by and stay awhile”

Galapo Playground

“I like this park it's big enough to keep my toddler busy, but not too big where I can't keep an eye on him. As long as you don't go during the time school is out (it gets very busy) it's a great place to take the kiddos”

Ashmoor Campground

Campground Park Lodging

“Perfect for a night of rest and relaxation! Can't beat the location for proximity to the interstate, yet tucked away in a green spot with the chirping of birds to wake up to. We scored one of their many flat pull-through sites and hooked up to the electric, etc. All for $23.54 including tax. We called ahead a few hours before and the manager (owner?) met us at the gate to guide us to our spot with her riding lawn mower. Very nice, we'll mark it down for the next time we travel south!”

Most of the campsites have a nearby pit toilet. Those were clean as well. The hiking and biking trails were easy. The beaches on lake Michigan were fun to walk.”
